Campus Tour: Encountering New People

2010.12.03

Before going off to explore our campus, there was big excitement in our big group of people which helped to break the ice. I joined in with that group. During the campus tour, we all kept on chatting and chatting! And sometimes it was more like hanging out with friends than giving a "campus tour" but I personally believe this campus tour was quite successful. That is because those small conversations allowed us to show the Hawaii students around our campus in an interesting way. In addition, it encouraged the students from Hawaii to tell us about their university through their asking of various questions, which was very interesting to us as we got to know what was so different and similar. I learned one important thing though! I have learned that I need to be careful about the time limit! I actually had a difficult time keeping an eye on everyone in my group and leading them. It can really be hard work to lead people who are really hyper, which is also very fun! At the end of it all, this was a good lesson and challenge for me.
