We had a reception party for Dickinson students at Yamachan in Sakae on June 2nd. We enjoyed famous local Nagoyan food like tebasaki (fried chicken wings in a sweet and spicy sauce) and had fun chatting and getting to know each other. We separated into small groups and competed in three games. The first game was gWho can eat tebasaki most beautifully?h Each group's representative tried hard to eat tebasaki in Nagoyan style as nicely as possible. The second game was gWho ate the wasabi sushi?h Only one representative's sushi had lots of wasabi in it, and the groups had to guess who ate it. Each representative tried hard to trick everyone. The Chairman of the Department of British and American Studies, Professor Suzuki, was the one who ate it, but he deceived many of us. The third game was gThe Coke Drinking Race?h Every representative tried hard to drink coke quickly using a straw, and they are really were fast!!! We were amazed how quickly they could do it. Many students who may have been a little bit of nervous at first about talking with the Dickinson students could become more confident after participating in this reception party.
